Former Auburn Football Coach On This Ballot
Looking to answer the calls of his local community, Former Auburn University head football coach Tommy Tuberville has announced that he will run as a Republican for Alabama’s Senate seat.
“After more than a year of listening to Alabama’s citizens, I have heard your concerns and hopes for a better tomorrow,” Tuberville posted on Twitter. “I am humbled to announce the next step — I will be a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate.”
This spells bad news for Sen. Doug Jones, who is considered the Democrat most likely to be replaced by a Republican in next year’s elections.
If Tuberville’s experience in team leading and favorable outlook with citizens wasn’t enough, the Republican will also be getting campaign assistance from Sean Spicer, President Donald Trump’s former White House communications director.
The 64 year-old Tuberville has coached 21 seasons of football, with ten of them being for Auburn. Suffice to say he is familiar with the community.
